At present, the Wandle River's accessibility to pedestrians is impeded by an industrial estate and a railway line. As a result, the walking route is redirected via Garratt Lane. Nevertheless, The Collective, the entity responsible for the Garratt Mills housing project at the estate location, has committed to offering financial support and collaborating with community organisations to unlock riverside access. This will enable uninterrupted pedestrian pathways, allowing individuals to traverse the entirety of the Wandle, starting from its origins in Croydon and Carshalton, all the way to its confluence with the Thames in Wandsworth.
I am working with Councillor Angela Graham, local residents, and business owners to promote this campaign and build the missing link.
