Crime and community safety are among my highest priorities. Through my experience as a Conservative councillor, London Assembly and parliamentary candidate, I have seen first-hand the impact that violent crime, drug-related crime and anti-social behaviour have on communities. I have met residents who were afraid to leave their homes, businesses affected by persistent crime and young people who needed earlier support to avoid being drawn into offending. Everyone should be able to feel safe in their own neighbourhood and in their own business. I have consistently campaigned for practical measures to make communities safer, including opposing the Labour London Mayor's proposed closure of Wimbledon Police Station, calling for more neighbourhood police officers, supporting the installation of CCTV in crime hotspots and pressing for more street lighting in areas affected by crime.
