Yesterday, I attended the Big Iftar at Baitul Futuh Mosque in Morden as a local Councillor for Lower Morden and as an Area Chair for the Conservative Women’s Organisation. It was a truly special evening of unity, reflection and community, hosted by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

Alongside Ajantha from the Conservative Women’s Organisation, I joined people from all backgrounds and religions to break fast together, share conversations, and strengthen bonds across our diverse communities. Events like these are a powerful reminder of the values we all share—kindness, understanding and respect for one another.

Baitul Futuh, the largest mosque in Western Europe, is not just a place of worship but a centre for charity, education, and interfaith dialogue.

It was also great to hear from our guest speaker, Jonathan Lord, former MP for Woking, who spoke about the importance of community cohesion. My thanks to our hosts for such a warm welcome and for bringing people together in the spirit of Ramadan.
